Lulu's Gulf Shores Allergy Menu

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LULU’S GULF SHORES

I had heard about Lulu’s for the last few years. Everyone I talked to RAVED about their food allergy menu and said this was a must do when traveling to the Alabama Gulf Coast. We’ve just never been able to make it there on any of our visits to the area. So when we moved to Pensacola in 2017, Lulu’s was on my MUST do list. It didn’t matter if we went to the Gulf Shores, Alabama or Destin, Florida location, I needed to go and check this place out. So one Friday we loaded up the kids and drove to Alabama to Lulu’s Gulf Shores for lunch and I’m so glad we did. Here are five things you need to know about Lulu’s Gulf Shores.

Lulus Gulf Shores

Kid Friendly

When I look for a restaurant kid friendly is at the top of my list. Even though my kids are getting older, I still want a place they can relax and just be kids. Lulu’s Gulf Shores is definitely that place. Bring a little extra cash because Lulu’s has a fun arcade the kids are going to want to play in for sure.

Beyond the arcade there is a rope course for big kids and for little kids. For The Mountain of Youth kids have to be 48 inches tall to climb and it’s $14 per person and the weight limit is 300 lbs. Munchkin Mountain is for the little kids under 48 inches and is $8 per child. Children must be accompanied by an adult on Munchkin Mountain.

There is HUGE sand pit filled with beach sand and sand toys. This is the perfect place for littles ones to play and pass the time while waiting for their food. Waiting is hard and Lulu’s Gulf Shores has you covered.

Food Allergy Friendly

I’ve personally only been two other places that were as food allergy friendly as Lulu’s. Those two places where Disney World and on a Carnival Cruise. If you have food allergies or celiac or any dietary special need, then you need to eat at Lulu’s Gulf Shores (or Destin). They are AMAZING when it comes to preparing and handling food allergies. Lulu’s has a dedicated food allergy menu. The food allergy menu offers gluten free, soy free, milk free, seafood free, shellfish free, egg free options. The only nuts in the restaurant are pecans for the Krispy Kreme bread pudding and those are stored in a dedicated space and dedicated pans are used to make the bread pudding.

When you tell your server you have a food allergy, he gets the supervisor who comes to the table and takes your order on a special red order slip. This notifies the kitchen staff that there is an allergy. Your order is made in a dedicated area and the manager brings your food to the table so it doesn’t get mixed with other food. We order the chips salsa and queso for our appetizer. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were delicious. My daughter ordered the kids grilled shrimp and chips, she loved them. We were very happy with our meals and our experience at Lulu’s eating gluten free.

Free Nightly Music

Every night and some afternoons there is live music. Exactly what you would expect from a place owned by Jimmy Buffett’s sister right? And what’s better than free entertainment with your meal. You can dance, sing, and eat and have fun! There wasn’t any one playing during our visit but now we have the perfect excuse to go back!

Beachy Vibe

Lulu’s Gulf Shores may not be on the beach but it’s got that beach vibe going on. There is a very laid back, perminate vacation vibe to the restaurant. It’s PERFECT after a long day playing on the beach.

Crowds

Surprisingly when we went Lulu’s wasn’t crowded for the Friday before Memorial Day. Another time we went and the wait was an hour long. So be aware that there can be a big wait time and prepare accordingly, like with extra money for the arcade.

Our experience at Lulu’s Gulf Shores was great. We’ll definitely go back, maybe next time we’ll try the Destin location! Have you been to Lulu’s? What was your favorite item on the menu?
