Planning and throwing birthday parties for New Orleans Kids are not always easy, especially when your child is older…and pickier. Where to go? What to do? And how to not look like the lame mom are all big questions when it comes to planning your teen’s next birthday party for their special day.
To make your life a little easier, I’ve compiled a list of teen birthday party ideas at awesome New Orleans area attractions so that everyone has a good time!
City Putt in New Orleans City Park
Miniature Golf is fun for all, and at City Putt, everyone is sure to have a great time! City Putt, located in New Orleans City Park, is New Orleans’ only miniature golf course and has two 18-hole course options – the New Orleans course and the Louisiana course. After, head over to Cafe Du Monde for some coffee and beignets.
Tickets are $10 per person for the first round, and party packages start at $500. City Putt is open Wednesday through Friday from 3 to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 10 p.m.
City Park Carousel Gardens and Amusement Park
The Carousel Gardens and Amusement Park in New Orleans City Park is always a great option for kids of all ages. From the historical carousel to the Musical Express, there is a ride for all of your party guests! There are also two concession areas that have a variety of food. There are a variety of party options you can choose from, and party packages start at $500.
Adventure Quest Laser Tag
Adventure Quest in Elmwood would be a great place for a fun night! Attractions include laser tag, an arcade, bumper cars, cosmic mini gold, a maze, and an escape room! Pricing varies by attraction, but a special usually includes multiple attractions. Party packages start at $239.
Airline Skate Center
Airline Skate Center offers private parties where you get exclusive use of the skating rink starting at $500 and Public Parties starting at $160. Admission and skate times vary by time of day and start at $7 plus $3 for skate rentals. No outside food or drinks are allowed, but there is a snack bar with pizza, snacks, drinks, hot dogs, etc.
Trampoline Parks
One great place for young adults and teen parties is a trampoline park! There are a few to choose from around town, including Surge, SkyZone Metairie, Airborne X Adventure Park, and Defy. Most of the local trampoline parks offer party packages that include a private party room; check out their websites for details.

Dinner & Movie
You can’t go wrong with dinner and a movie; you can do both at Clearview Palace, which is now offering Dine-In Movie options!
Bowling
From the Eastbank to the Westbank, our city has several bowling options!
Westside Bowling Lanes, Rock’n’Bowl, AMF All-Star Lanes, Colonial Lanes, and if your teen is feeling extra fancy, Fulton Alley is open to those under 21 until 8 p.m.
Loft 18
“Hit the Green” at Loft 18, Metairie’s virtual golf headquarters. You can bring your own clubs or rent from Loft 18. One stall fits up to 10 people. There are plenty of food and drink options, sure to please everyone.
New Orleans Boulder Lounge
Head on over to New Orleans Boulder Lounge for some climbing. For $16, you can climb all day (shoes are $4 to rent).
Kayaking on Bayou St. John
For the outdoorsy teen, take a birthday boy or girl and their friends kayaking on Bayou St. John. Equipment can be rented from Bayou Paddlesports. Afterward, they can find the perfect picnic area on the banks of the bayou or head over to Parkway for some delicious po’boys!
NOLA Motorsports
For an adrenaline rush, go to Nola Motorsports Park, where you and your teen can race Karts around a track. Children 52” and older can ride and/or drive the Go Karts. There are also inflatable slides to entertain everyone.
Scavenger Hunt
Make a list of historical places, special moments, and unique landmarks around the city, and have your teen go out on the hunt with his or her friends to find them all! End at a location where the party can have a bite to eat or end with a fun activity!
Museum Tour
If your teen loves history and art, New Orleans is full of museums they will love, like JAMNOLA, NOMA, Louisiana State Museums in the French Quarter, Contemporary Art Center, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Whitney Plantation, the National World War II Museum, Mardi Gras World, and the Southern Food and Beverage Museum. Tweens and even some big kids might love the Louisiana Children’s Museum.
After your museum tour, you can head over to Creole Creamery for ice cream!
Watch the Saints or Pelicans Play
If your teen is a HUGE sports fan, what better way to celebrate their birthday than to watch the New Orleans Saints or the New Orleans Pelicans play?
Dinner and a Show
If your teen is a fan of live theater, New Orleans is home to some amazing theaters. Theater tickets for the birthday child and a friend and dinner make the perfect birthday celebration.
Go on a Swamp Tour
if your teen loves adventure, maybe a birthday swamp tour with friends. You can visit the Jean Lafitte Swamp and Honey Island Swamp, take a kayak tour in Manchac, take a swamp tour via airboat, or go zip-lining over the swamps!
