It’s check-out day and your Walt Disney World vacation is almost over. You’re all checked out and your flight isn’t until late in the evening and you’re not sure how to spend your day. Here are nine things you can do on checkout day while you’re waiting on your flight or if you are like me just want to extend the magic a little longer.
Use Your Dining Plan Credits
Note: The Disney Dining Plan returns in January 2024.
Do you have leftover dining plan credits? Check-out day is the perfect time to use them. Your dining plan credits are good until midnight on check-out day. My favorite place to spend my leftover dining plan credits is at the Confectionary on Main Street or Goofy’s Candy Company in Disney Springs. Candy makes the perfect gift for those back home or to get you through the day.
Hang Out At Your Resort
From the pool to the playground to the arcade, and more. Most resorts have tons of amenities and things to do to keep you busy throughout the day. So spend the day hanging out at your Walt Disney World resort soaking up all the fun there is to offer.
Take A Monorail Ride
When my kids were little the monorail was like another ride to them. They could spend all day riding the monorail around the Seven Seas Lagoon or to Epcot and back. You can also take the Resort Monorail and explore the Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian Resorts.
Go for a Boat Ride
Take the boat from Disney Springs to Port of Orleans French Quarter for some beignets, ride the ferry across the Seven Seas Lagoon, canoe in Ft. Wilderness Campground, or even rent a boat for a little fun out on the water.
Disney Springs
Hop over to Disney Springs to do some shopping, eat, and play before you leave the Disney Bubble. This is a great place to use those leftover dining credits and extend that Disney Magic. You can also see a movie at the AMC Dine-In 24 or bowl a few games at Splitsville.
Play Mini Golf
Did you know there are two mini golf courses at Walt Disney World? There are! Playing a few holes of mini golf at Fantasia Gardens and Winter Summerland is a perfect way to spend check-out day.
Catch A Fish
Then release it as fishing at Walt Disney World is catch and release only. You can fish from the docks at Port of Orleans Riverside or book a fishing excursion.
Visit Tri-Circle-D Ranch
Go horseback riding, take a pony ride, explore the ranch, and see Cinderella’s Ponies and the majestic horses of Main Street, U.S.A., and more at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Ft. Wilderness Campground. While you are at Ft. Wilderness take an archery class.
Go Play At Your Favorite Park
This is our favorite way to spend check-out day and extend the magic just a little longer. After breakfast, we pick one park usually Magic Kingdom or Epcot and three rides that we MUST do before heading home. This is, in my opinion, the best way to spend checkout day.
No matter what you do or how you spend your checkout day, you’ll be sure to have fun because after all, it’s Disney World!
